Life Story for Myrtle Viola Simpson (Hanson)

Myrtle Viola Simpson (Hanson)
Myrtle Simpson was born to John and Olga (nee Melhus) Hanson January 19, 1921 at Theodore. She took her schooling in Theodore with piano and art classes as extras. She then attended Business College in Yorkton, worked as a stenographer in Regina, then in Yorkton at the hospital. On November 28, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Simpson. Together they farmed and raised a family of three. Gardens and canning were a big part of farm life and she was very grateful for electricity, which provided fridges and freezers. Myrtle and Jack spent winters curling and Myrtle coached figure skating for many years. She was very active in the Creekside Homemakers and as the organist at the Theodore United Church and then was a member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Choir in Yorkton. For many years she worked at the Theodore Credit Union and Theodore Hospital. In her free time she put her childhood art classes to good use and produced many lovely paintings.
Predeceased by her husband Jack; parents John and Olga Hanson; sisters Pearl and Min and as well as great-granddaughter Ayla Bernaurer Pearce. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life sons: John (Patricia) of Theodore, Evan (Janet) of Yorkton; daughter Thelma (John) Pearce of St. Gregor; grandchildren: David, Robert, John Patrick (Ember), Michael (Alysson) and Thomas (Jamie), Donald, Alisdair and Dougal (Brianne) Todd; Eric (Rose), Andrew (Lindsay), Jonathan (Leah) and Matthew (Amy) Pearce; great grandchildren: Brittany, Emma, William, Kiah, Cort, Owen, Emily, Bailey, Cooper, Alexander, Grace, Finn, Cullen, Cohen, Arlo; great-great grandson Carrson; Diane McKinnel of Osler and many other relatives and friends.
