Life Story for Valeria Woloschuk

Valeria  Woloschuk
WOLOSCHUK - Mrs. Valeria Woloschuk, recently of Regina, formerly of Yorkton and the Otthon district, widow of Nick Woloschuk was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on August 2nd, 2017, after a brief illness at the age of 101 years.
Valeria was born in the Brewer district on December 9th, 1915 to Joseph and Mary Osicki (nee Dobko). She was the youngest daughter of 10 children. She received her education at Pulaski Plains School. As a young girl her interests included drawing, making crafts and sewing. She had beautiful handwriting and often talked about how the teachers would make them practice. At the age of 15, she left school to help out on the family farm.
On June 18, 1935, Valeria was united in marriage to Nicholas Woloschuk at St. Cunnegunda Church in the Otthon district. The couple resided in the Yorkton area where they farmed for more than 50 years. This union was blessed with 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls. Mom was a magician in the kitchen. She had a talent for putting together a meal in a moment's notice whenever anyone dropped by. She was a talented seamstress often designing her own patterns from nothing but looking at a picture creating beautiful dresses and gowns for all occasions. She also had a love of music and dancing in her younger years. The church and her faith were the most important part of her life. She spent time most days praying and saying the rosary.
Valeria is predeceased by her husband Nickolas in 2005, her mother Mary in 1920, her father Joseph in 1947, daughter Rita in 1938, son Arthur in 2003, son Leslie in 2015, great granddaugher Olivia in 2005, son-in-law Fred Rast in 2014, six sisters, Katherine Taschuk, Pearl Burant, Julia Chipeur, Victoria Burant, Helen Novakowski and Anne Woloschuk, brothers John, Frank and Nick Osicki.
Valeria leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, daughters Dorothy (Borden) Tanasychuk, Dugald, MB, Sylvia Rast, Eatonia, SK, Shirley (Richard) Gunn, Brooklyn, New York, Marlene (Sylvester) Woytas, Regina, SK, Valerie (Arnold) Janz, Regina, SK, Sons, Ronald (Gerry) Victoria, B.C., Raymond (Florence) Othon, SK, Lavern, Yorkton, SK; Daughters-in-law Edie Woloschuk, Bulyea, SK, and Eleanor Woloschuk, Otthon, SK, 22 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Valeria was a strong and caring person who genuinely loved her family and always put others before herself. She led her life as an inspiration to us. She will be lovingly remembered for her deep dedication, love and kindness she bestowed on her children and grandchildren. She will be forever missed by her family.
Prayers were held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with
Mary Bybliw & Jerome Niezgoda presiding. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Louis Kim Nguyen as the Celebrant. The pianist, Chris Fisher accompanied St. Gerard's choir in the singing of the hymns. Amanda Howarth served as the cross bearer.
The interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Blair Tanasychuk, Len Woloschuk, Neal Woloschuk, Barry Woloschuk, Bryan Janz and Garry Janz serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Valeria's life may be made to mass offerings as gifts of remembrance.
