KOSTIW - Gloria Kostiw, wife of the late Edward Kostiw, of Yorkton, formerly of Donwell and Melville passed away suddenly on Monday May 8, 2017 in her home. She was 73 years old.
Gloria Cecilia Kostiw was born in Toronto, Ontario on August 31, 1943, born to Peter and Julia (nee Davidowich) Bespalko. She lived with her parents, on Indian Road in Toronto until the age of 21. She was a teller at the TD Bank when she met a young butcher named Ed that worked nearby. They married on August 7, 1965. After they were married, they lived on the 2nd floor of the house on Indian Road with her parents.  After a couple of years they moved to Mississauga. They had 3 daughters, Kimberly, Victoria and Patricia.
In 1976 Ed’s father passed away and the family moved to Goodeve Saskatchewan to take care of his mother. After two years in Goodeve the family moved to Melville, where Gloria became a waitress at the King George Hotel. She worked at the restaurant for close to 20 years. Gloria was loved by everyone who frequented the restaurant, and was referred to as ‘Crazy Gloria” due to her fun loving spirit, her sharp wit and the anticipation of whatever she was going to say next. She took pride in being a great mother, and also became involved in the Girl Guide organization, becoming a Commissioner for the Melville District. In 2004 Ed and Gloria moved to Donwell, Saskatchewan to retire and later moved to Yorkton due to Ed’s health, where Ed passed away in 2008. Gloria loved bingo, bowling, and playing cards but most of all spending time with her family, including her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gloria passed away suddenly on Monday May 8, 2017 in her home. She was 73 years old.
Gloria was predeceased by her husband Ed, and by her parents Peter and Julia. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Kim (Brad) Graham of Roche Percee, SK, Vicki (Troy) Campbell of Regina, SK; Pat (Dean) Scowen of Ottawa ON; four grandchildren, Kayla, Travis, Nolan and Chayse; two great grandchildren, Abigail and Nova; a sister, Sabina (Walter) Fedchuk of Islington, ON; and a brother, Ron (Arlene) of Mississauga, ON as well as several nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 15, 2017 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Reverend Deacon Luanne Hrywkiw of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating. The organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns ‘The Strife Is O’er’ and ‘The Lord Is My Shepherd’. A special musical selection ‘Darlin’ by Johnny Reid was played. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by granddaughter, Kayla and Gloria’s daughters, Kim, Vicky and Pat. Interment followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Gloria’s grandchildren serving as the urnbearers.

Life Story for Gloria Kostiw

Mrs. Gloria Kostiw of Yorkton, formerly of Melville & Goodeve, widow of Edward Kostiw passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the age of 73 years. The funeral will take place on Monday, May 15 at 2:00p.m. at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, with the interment to proceed in the Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
