Obituary for Mike Kobelka

KOBELKA - Mr. Mike Kobelka of Yorkton, beloved husband of the late Vicky entered eternal life
surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 10 at Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was
95 years of age.
Mike was born on November 20, 1916 in Burgis, SK to Wasyl and Helen (Wasylyshyn) Kobelka, the
fifth child of fourteen.
When Mike left home he went to work in various mines in Uranium City and Sudbury, ON.
On September 26, 1959 Mike married Victoria Slowski and instantly become a father to Joyce and
started their family life together in Lenswood, MB. In the next few years Theresa, Jimmy and Sheila
were added to the family.
In 1967 they moved to Birch River, MB, purchased land in Bellsite and continued to farm. Mike would work up north in the
winter and continue to farm in the summer. Mike sold his land in Bellsite and then Mike and Vicky worked as caretakers at the
Birch River School until moving to Yorkton, SK in 1981. Mike worked for Bill the Builder in construction until his retirement. In
1996, Mike and Vicky moved to Jubilee Crescent to enjoy their retirement years.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Helen, his wife Victoria in 2009, his son Jimmy in 2006 and his infant
grandson Jeffrey in 1981; sisters Sophie Sushelnicki, Mary Domres and Anne Slowski; a brother Danny in infancy; and brothers
John, Fred, Harry, Metro, George, Paul, Bill and Alex.
He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his three daughters Joyce (Stan) Urbanoski of Yorkton, Theresa
(Michael) Urbanowski of Spruce Grove and Sheila (Adam) of Calgary; grandchildren Bernadette (Doug) Pankoski of Lethbridge,
Dwayne Urbanoski (Tisha) of Yorkton, Scott Urbanoski (Rebeka) of Edmonton, Dayna (Justin) Pullukatt of Edmonton, Danita
(Sam) Jones of Spruce Grove, Chad Kobelka of Edmonton, Chelsea (Sam) Shtay of Edmonton and Dylan Kobelka of Edmonton;
great grandchildren Jules and Gabe of Lethbridge and Erica and Jackson of Yorkton; brother Steve (Jean) Kobelka; sisters in law
Mary Kobelka, Helen Kobelka, Verna Kobelka, Eunice Kobelka, Lena Bergen and Pauline Slowski; brother in law Matt (Betty)
Slowe and many special nieces and nephews.
The Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 and the Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at
Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The cantor, Gerald
Yaholnitsky and parish choir members led in the singing of the responses.
The cross bearer was Agnes Kamfoly. The interment followed in the family plot in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton
Memorial Gardens with Larry Kobelka, Steven Kobelka, John Domres, Rodney Slowski, Billy Sushelnicki and Clarence Sushelnicki
serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Mike may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences can be
